City of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass during a press conference to announce a new solar street light pilot program in Van Nuys on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced two new Inside Safe operations this weekend as part of the city’s continuing efforts to tackle large homeless encampments.
Officials said the encampment has been in existence for four years and included individuals living in tents and industrial metal tubes near the Big Tujunga Creek under Interstate 210.
