Close friends of late comedian Barry Humphries have opened up about his remarkable career and revisited one of the darkest periods of the comedy icon’s life.
Author Kathy Lette was Humphries’ neighbour in London for decades and considers the late star her “favourite person”.
“He turned up at my house one morning and he’d be hammering on the door wanting a drink. And I said Barry it’s only seven in the morning.” “My career was gaining momentum, in spite of the fact that the handbrake was firmly engaged, and I found myself working in a perfect environment,” he wrote in a blog post before his passing. “Only later in that decade did I pick up the gift of life,” he added.
