The Record Sport columnist and former treble-winning Ibrox skipper has been hurting as much as any supporter and has advice for the new boys.

Michael Beale and his players have been battered from pillar to post since Sunday afternoon and that comes with the territory when you let the Rangers support down. I know. I’ve been there and it is a horrible feeling.

It’s not only Beale who is under pressure. The players have got to take a bit of responsibility as well. The jury is still out on almost all of the new signings made by the manager in the summer. It’s fair to say Jack Butland has looked every inch a Rangers goalkeeper, but all of the outfield signings have still got a lot to prove.

Yes, the Europa League is also thrown into the equation but I think those games will look after themselves. Domestically, it’s vital that Michael Beale’s team shows a real improvement and determination to right some of the wrongs of the past week. I don’t care if it’s not the best performance at McDiarmid but Rangers fans want to see their team fired up and giving everything to get the win that they need.
