SAN ANTONIO - Officials have released the identity of the barricaded man who died in a house fire on Monday. According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner, the man has been identified as 54-year-old Michael Anthony Gallegos.
Barricaded individual found dead after fire breaks out throughout home, police investigate Firefighters arrived at the home, located near Chartwell Drive and Powhatan Drive on the North Side, around 7:30 p.m. on Monday. However, when first responders arrived, they were allegedly met by a person with a gun, who then retreated back into the house, as a fire in the garage gradually consumed the home.Neighborhood residents claimed that the smoke was so thick, that it set of the smoke detectors in their homes, down the street. We learned that there were multiple calls for service at Gallegos' residence leading up to the fire - including a call for a "Disturbance with a Gun". There were also multiple calls for welfare checks earlier this year, including one earlier this month.
