Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) criticized President Joe Biden's decision to award Liz Cheney, a former congresswoman and key member of the January 6 Committee, the Presidential Citizens Medal. Barrasso argued that Cheney, who he views as representing partisanship and divisiveness, does not deserve such an honor.

Democrats have asked Biden to offer Cheney and other January 6 Committee members a preemptive pardon, as he already did for his son— preventing any federal prosecution for crimes he may have committed over a nearly 11-year period beginning in January 2014.
