Watch BarenakedLadies pay tribute to BobSeger at Detroit area concert

During the Detroit area stop of their Group Therapy Tour opening for Hootie & the Blowfish, paid tribute to the Motor City rock icon with a quick ad hoc medley at the suburban DTE Energy Music Theatre.

In June, the venue's address was rechristened as 33 Bob Seger Drive. Noting the amphitheater's original name, BNL frontman Ed Robertson told the crowd, "I will call this place Pine Knob until they rename it Bob Seger Place. Just a road is not enough." Noting that Seger was his "go-to for karaoke," Robertson sang a verse of Seger's "Turn the Page" before tossing it to drummer Tyler Stewart for a bit of "Still the Same." Bassist Jim Creeggan -- who after the show noted that Seger and Grandmaster Flash were the only two cassettes he owned during his youth -- took on "Hollywood Nights."

Multi-instrumentalist Kevin Hearn played some of "Against the Wind," singing at one point, "the key's too high but I'm running against the wind." Stewart then tossed in a quick refrain of "Like a Rock" before BNL busted into its own "Brian Wilson." Seger is currently on a summer break from his farewell tour, which resumes Sept. 12 in Rapid City, S.D., and currently wraps Oct. 19 in Chicago. The Group Therapy tour, meanwhile, runs through Sept. 13 in North America and crosses to the U.K. during October.
