Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud is determined to build on his 2021 success as the Buckeyes' training camp is set to start.

It was an undeniably impressive season for someone who didn’t throw a pass as a true freshman in 2020. But Stroud isn’t satisfied.“I just think I can always be better,” he said. “There's always room for improvement. That's how I look at it. Tom Brady's mindset is that he comes back every year with something to prove that he has to be better. I respect that because it's a fight. It’s a challenge every day for that.

“He is very driven,” Day said. “He wants it really bad, he's very competitive, but he's a very good leader.” Stroud was relaxed and playful at last week's Big Ten media days in Indianapolis. He joked with a reporter about what his video game rating would be. He said he'd beaten Smith-Njigba nine straight times at H-O-R-S-E and claimed that some of his teammates were so talented at basketball thatIt was a side of Stroud that he was reluctant to show last season, especially early as he was finding his way on and off the field.“He's speaking up,” he said. “He's more mature.

One of the few criticisms of Stroud last year was about his reluctance to run. He’s not going to be Braxton Miller, J.T. Barrett or Justin Fields with his legs, but Stroud said that’s an element he’ll be more willing to use.
