Former president may have been talking about Medicare for All and Green New Deal proposals.
Former president Barack Obama has told dozens of Democratic freshmen to be wary of the cost of the high-profile policies proposed during their first year in the House, according to reports.
While not a complete rebuke of the ideas, Obama reportedly said that Democrats should at least be prepared to answer questions from their constituents about how they would be prepared to pay for the policies, arguing even liberals would be put off from supporting an idea they agree with if it impacts their bottom line.
Speaking to The Post, Stevens said Obama described the importance of “staying in touch with your constituents,” to the current batch of Democrats and “making sure you’re doing the regular communications as well as [recognizing] that there’s often-time nuances to policy making and that it takes time.”
