Bank of America's summer internship will be entirely virtual. A talent exec runs through how the bank's 2,000 global interns will learn, network, and volunteer without stepping into an office.
The program has been shortened from 10 weeks to anywhere between six and eight weeks, but interns will still be paid for the full 10 weeks they signed on for.
Bank of America will also virtually onboard 1,000 full-time campus hires in July who will join their teams that are already working remotely.For many college juniors and seniors, a summer internship on Wall Street is the first step to a career in banking. "That is the traditional model," Ebony Thomas, an executive in the firm's global human resources division, told Business Insider.
And for many of the incoming students, this internship won't be their first remote experience, as many of them are completing their spring semesters online.Interns will still be expected to work with their assigned teams and complete projects remotely, and they'll have the same performance check-ins with managers and mentors as they would in-person.
