“Banging” sounds have been heard coming from the area the missing Titan submersible was last seen, according to leaked government documents. 7NEWS

The passengers have been identified as Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son, Suleman; French Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet; and Hamish Harding, billionaire chairman of Dubai-based Action Aviation.

The leaked updates did not provide any information about when the noises were heard or what was thought to have caused it.Surface support boat Polar Prince lost contact with the submersible about one hour and 45 minutes after it began diving toward the site of the Titanic’s wreckage. The Titanic wreckage is located 4000 metres underwater, while the Navy’s manned rescue craft can only descend about 600m underwater.

British billionaire Hamish Harding, businessman Shahzada Dawood, researcher Paul-Henri Nargeolet and OceanGate chief executive Stockton Rush are believed to on board a tourist submarine that went missing while exploring the Titanic.
