The suspect was able to make off with loads of stolen merchandise from the Hot 8 Yoga Studio in the Marina back in January. They were then able to flee the scene in a driverless white Jaguar that was parked out front, perPolice are calling it the first-of-its-kind heist for the city after the suspect turned the high-tech vehicle in to a getaway car.

After obtaining a search warrant to get the video and information on the rider from the company, cops have yet to publicly identify a suspect or make an arrest.

“It’s highly unusual in the first place that a Waymo is even used by a suspect,” Faye said. “It was disappointing that the internal video was not able to lead to the recognition of a suspect. ” By the time PD got the search warrant for video of the interior of the car, it was no longer available and footage from the outside of the vehicle only showed the faces blurred, in the name of privacy, per the report.

The Yoga studio manager-who shared footage of the crime with the outlet- said their video showed the driverless car drop off the suspect, wait for the person to rob them before it proceeded to drive him away.is new to the Bay Area, it is not a novel idea by criminals and it has happened in other places. In January 2025, a thief using a Waymo attempted to escape police in the driverless car after robbing an LA grocery store, perUnlike what happened in the Bay Area, the high-tech vehicle helped cops nab the suspect and foil his attempt to get away with the loot.
Such vehicles are programmed to pull over if they detect police lights and sirens, which were already swirling around the area. The Post reached out to the San Francisco Police Department, the Yoga studio and Waymo for further comment.
