He took that hot form into the second nine, carding three consecutive birdies from 12 till 14, before closing out with a birdie on the final hole. In all, Dodt finished the Par 5’s on 5-under for the day.When met after his round, Dodt said he was surprised at his good play, having come to Malaysia in a hurry, which scuppered his preparations.

“I played the New Zealand Open last week and it was a bit tricky to get here. So I took an extra day to get here which I never do for a tournament and I had no physio and no practice. It was a comeback win as Dodt had to take several months off from April till August 2019 because he had injured his back.“Malaysia’s been a happy hunting ground for me and today was another step in the right direction playing here,” added the 34-year-old Queenslander.

“I remember playing here when I was 17 and lost in a playoff. I couldn’t speak English that well at the time. It was before I went to Australia.
