KUCHING: The Health Ministry should clarify its plans to resolve contract issues among healthcare workers, including placements in areas of urgent need such as Sabah and Sarawak, says a DAP lawmaker.
Bandar Kuching MP Kelvin Yii said this also included the ministry's plans for the medical officers who were offered a six-month contract extension in April but still faced an uncertain future.
"The selection can be more transparent so that there is not only greater certainty in the process but will remove any perception of favouritism, bias or discrimination," he said in a statement on Wednesday . In an open letter to the Prime Minister, MPs and the Health director-general on Tuesday , the group had said doctors from Sabah and Sarawak were unfairly treated in the allocation of permanent posts in both states.
"As it is, there are still many Sarawakian doctors and healthcare workers who are serving in the state but have yet to be offered a permanent posting," he said.
