Chris McKee scored in the 83rd minute to seal another win for the Blues
Chris McKee's rich vein of form continued on Friday night as Linfield overcame stubborn a Ballymena United defence and atrocious conditions to go top of the Sports Direct Premiership.
McKee delivered a clinical winner seven minutes from time to make it three wins out of three for the Blues this season. The winning goal was a rare moment of class in a game punctuated by swirling winds and relentless rain on Warden Street. Up until that moment it had looked like being one of those nights for David Healy's side, who were twice denied by the woodwork and had a goal contentiously ruled out in the second half.
Kyle McClean's rasping effort rebounded off the underside of the bar and appeared to bounce over the line, but the flag went up for offside when John Robertson tapped home the rebound. It was a flashpoint that threatened to grab the post-match headlines, but McKee settled any doubt with his late intervention.
