Friends and family will hold a balloon release at 2 p.m. to honor the life of Michelle Wall, who died during a chase between Euclid police officers and a teenager driving a stolen car.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - “It has been devastating, numb because she was just in church that morning and for this to happen, everybody is just numb right now,” Wall’s friend, Wendy Armstrong said previously.The teenager’s charges include murder, aggravated vehicular homicide, failure to comply with the order/signal of a police officer, felonious assault, receiving stolen property, and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to those charges on Wednesday.
“My deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Michelle Wall. She lost her life in yet another senseless act of violence and lawlessness in Cuyahoga County,” Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer said. “Her life was taken by a suspect who attempted to evade apprehension by the Euclid Police Department; a suspect who acted selfishly without any regard for the lives and safety of others.”
The pursuit, according to police, involved one Euclid police cruiser, lasted under three minutes and ended in the fatal crash. The two suspects fled from the Jeep at the scene of the crash and were arrested in a nearby backyard, said police.
