Ana Sofía López, who performed administrative work at the Mexican agency, was arrested on a charge of conspiracy to distribute cocaine
An employee with the Baja California prosecutor’s office has been arrested in San Diego on a cocaine conspiracy charge, according to a complaint filed in federal court.
López had worked at the prosecutor’s office since 2015 and mostly performed administrative tasks. Carpio said they are fully cooperating with U.S. authorities in this case. “Our relationship is solid,” he said, “and the trust between both institutions remains despite these regrettable and reprehensible acts.”
Last Thursday, law enforcement agents were conducting surveillance on a vacation rental home in National City and spotted a gold Chevrolet Malibu with Mexican plates being driven by a man. Law enforcement databases showed that López had crossed the San Ysidro Port of Entry in the Malibu approximately 24 minutes before Rosas drove it into the garage, according to the complaint.
