Residents and tourists in Baguio City and Metro Manila woke up on Friday, Feb. 17, to the coldest morning so far this 2022-2023 northeast monsoon or “amihan” season, as the air temperature dropped to 10.2 degrees Celsius and 20.2℃, respectively.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration recorded Baguio City’s lowest temperature reading around 5 a.m. Meanwhile, the lowest temperature reading in Metro Manila was recorded at the Science Garden monitoring station in Quezon City around 6 am. PAGASA attributed the cold weather in Baguio City and Metro Manila to the northeast monsoon prevailing in Luzon and Visayas.Based on the PAGASA’s monitoring, the top 10 stations that recorded the lowest air temperature throughout the day were:
