TAGAYTAY CITY: International Master Jose Efren Bagamasbad of the Philippines agreed to a quick 11-move draw with compatriot FIDE Master Adrian Ros Pacis in the seventh round but remained on top of the leaderboard in the 12th Asian Senior Chess Championship at the Knights Templar Hotel, Tagaytay City on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Bagamasbad, the defending champion in the 65 years old and above division, raised his score to 6.5 points, two points ahead of Pacis, National Master Mario Mangubat of the Philippines, International Master Aitkazy Baimurzin of Kazakhstan and Randolph Schain of Cambodia who has 4.5 points apiece.'Draw is OK.

Also making their presence felt in the tournament were FIDE Master Antonio Molina and National Master Quirino Sagario.Molina drew with Kian Hwa Lim of Malaysia while Sagario outclassed Arena FIDE Master Biket Zharokov of Kazakhstan.Molina, Sagario and Miles Patterson of Australia are tied for 6th place with 4.0 points each after seven rounds.
