Percy Tau and Lyle Foster led the attack for the home side, who had Cassius Mailula on the bench as they pushed for their first win in the group.
The host quickly shrugged off the nervous start where goalkeeper Tommy Songo stuck out a high boot on Tau and conceded a penalty, which Foster confidently dispatched to open the scoring on 11 minutes. It should’ve been three for the host a few seconds later from a close-range effort by Bongokuhle Hlongwane after winning possession from a high-press, but he fired off the outside post from close range.
Tau got a perfect chance to redeem himself around the latter stage of the second half when he latched onto a ball over the top and went clear, but he dragged his effort wide of the mark.
