Bafana Bafana striker Bongokuhle Hlongwane is now level on goals with Lionel Messi in the Leagues Cup after getting on the score sheet for Minnesota United on Wednesday.
The Loons sealed a spot in the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup after defeating Toluca 4-2 on penalties following a 2-2 draw during normal time. Minnesota's Joseph Rosales had opened the scoring just 13 minutes into the match when Hlongwane scored his seventh goal of the cup competition in the 32nd minute.However, Toluca fought their way back into the game in the second with Valber Huerta scoring in the 66th minute and Tiago Volpi levelling matters in the 75th minute from the penalty spot, after a foul that earned United's Hassani Dotson a red card.
