Bafana's Race With Nigeria For Okon
GQEBERHA, SOUTH AFRICA - SEPTEMBER 26: Ime Okon of SuperSport United during the DStv Premiership match between Chippa United and SuperSport United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on September 26, 2023 in Gqeberha, South Africa.
Another one of the best centre-backs, whose career was catapulted by the national team is Mbulelo Mabizela, who made his debut for Bafana after just three months of experience in the PSL, aged 21. Mabizela went on to become the youngest Bafana captain at age 22. Okon, 19, can be lost to the South African national team if he features more than three times in competitive games for the Super Eagles or is capped at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The young centre-back recently told SABC Sport that he is yet to make up his mind on which country he will represent internationally.
