Bafana Bafana delivered a lacklustre performance against minnows Eswatini on Friday evening that left head coach Hugo Broos fuming.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Broos didn’t mince his words, saying, “There were many feelings that went through my body, frustration, anger, disbelief. I didn’t believe what I saw, the first half, also the second. But the first half we played very bad, I think we had one chance to score in the 90 minutes against – with all respect – a small team.”
The Belgian coach further lamented the lacklustre performance, saying, “We were lucky that we played against a team at that level; otherwise, it should have been a disaster. It should have been a disaster. I didn’t recognise my team. We tried to change things at half-time, hoping that things should be better, but we went on playing at the same level. It’s unbelievable three months ago that that team played against Morocco.
Prior to the match, both Broos and team captain Ronwen Williams had urged South Africans to show their support at the stadium.Despite the disappointing turnout, Broos insisted that the poor showing justified the lack of fan support, saying, “We were asking for crowds, but I think with such a performance, we can’t ask for crowds. Should people come to the stadium to see that and go home frustrated? No, not at all. So again, yes, we do want the crowd, but you have to deserve it.
