In what appeared to be a warning shot heading into the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League playoffs, Bacoor City clobbered 1Bataan, 93-65, to close out the regular season in style at the Marikina Sports Center on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
The Strikers warmed up for the post-season with Mark Montuano, Jhan Mchale Nermal and Alwyn Alday leading the dominant display against the also-ran Risers.Montuano finished with 12 points to anchor the balanced attack for Bacoor as all but two from the 15 players head coach Alex Angeles had fielded contributed in the rout where the Strikers led by as many as 29 points.
“Yun performance namin, especially on defense, pati yung box outs at ibang mga little things, talagang ginamot namin kaya lahat kami dito masaya paglaro namin sa playoffs,” he added. Even after the masterful win and finishing atop the standings, Angeles was quick to remind his players to not be complacent, especially heading into the quarterfinals against a still dangerous Iloilo team.
