But in an apparent attempt to find compromise, Cumberland County Judge Edward Guido's order does require his law clerk, who is at the center of several conflicts with county prosecutors, to stay off any criminal cases in his courtroom.

Those disputes have included dressing downs of attorneys over issues including access to unused courtrooms, courtroom decorum, and, in one case, a prosecutor’s in-trial hallway review of potential evidentiary material that Craig believed could have been overhead by jurors. “However, we can state unequivocally that none of those relationships, including that with Ms. Craig, has ever affected our handling of any case.”
But in an apparent attempt to address the district attorney’s concerns about Craig, Guido also stipulated in his order that he will assign another of the county’s paid law clerks to any criminal cases that he is presiding on. But Guido stated that he will preside over any future assigned criminal proceedings unless the district attorney gets an emergency order stopping him from doing so.
