Published: Aug. 30, 2024, 2:01 p.m.Going into the 2023 summer season, times looked good for Gulf Shores restaurant Bahama Bob’s: A popular beach spot known for its burgers, it had been picked by Southern Living as one of the best places in town to eat.While the damage was limited, the restaurant was closed.
Positive sign No. 1: The bartender whipped up the bushwacker using an old-fashioned milkshake mixer. It came in a plain Styrofoam cup but had a great balance of chocolate-coconut flavor.Lawrence Specker | [email protected] Positive sign No. 3: My Paradise Island Fried Pecan Flounder caused an immediate case of menu envy from a fellow patron who’d responsibly ordered grilled fish. And it didn’t just look good: the golden brown crust was crisp and flavorful without overwhelming the fish within. It was served with a sweet dipping sauce that wasn’t bad, though I personally would prefer tartar sauce or remoulade. That’s a quibble, though. And what stood out as much as the flavor was the generous portion size.
