by Valerie Bell, ABC 33/40 StaffOne dead, two injured after shooting, car crash es into Creek in Birmingham A man is dead and a woman is fighting for her life after a vehicle was shot into, left the roadway and went into a pond. An infant girl inside the vehicle, was 'miraculously' uninjured.
Fitzgerald explained officers had to tread water, that was knee to waist deep, to get to the vehicle. When officers got to the vehicle, it was observed that both the man and the woman inside had gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced the man dead on the scene. The infant was not injured at all. The woman was taken to UAB. The man has been identified as 25-year-old Gabriel Deamontae Bester of Birmingham.
"Time is of the essence," Fitzgerald said, in asking anyone who saw anything to come forward. No one is in custody.
