A Harrisburg man is facing charges related to the assault of a 3-month-old girl, according to Pennsylvania State Police Newport.
Eriezer Melendez Jr., 37, was arrested Wednesday after the child was injured on Nov. 15, court documents indicate.
During an interview with troopers at the hospital, Melendez Jr., who had been watching the child at the home, initially said that he woke to the baby crying and took her to the shower to help her congestion, according to a criminal affidavit. He allegedly admitted to shaking the baby "one good time" in attempt to wake the child. He said it felt like the child's head snapped back and then came forward, troopers wrote in charging documents.
