The baby Jesus figurine was taken from the Red Lion Borough nativity scene in Pennsylvania. Two people in black hoodies were reportedly seen attempting to steal the statue, but were scared off by a passerby. Borough officials are appealing to the public for help in recovering the missing figure.
Red Lion officials say it was reported last Thursday that two people in black hoodies attempted to take the baby, but were scared away by a passerby.
"It saddens us all that someone would do something like this during this season of love and giving. If the person, or persons, who did this, have any love in their hearts at all, they will return the baby," the borough said in Facebook post.“I mean I saw it on Facebook and I thought it was really sad and I don’t know if people get shock value or what they're trying to do and it’s a shame it's a religious holiday," Chris Troxel said.
Dan Shaw, borough manager, explained that their hope is to have the nativity scene completed in time for the holidays, like it was before. If you know anything about this, please contact the Red Lion Borough at 717-850-0790.
