A 1-year-old child who was hit by a car on a Valley Center street on Monday morning suffered fatal injuries in the collision, the California Highway Patrol said Tuesday.shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Morningstar Road, which is on the Rincon reservation. According to the CHP, the child died as he or she was airlifted to a hospital. The CHP did not say if the child who died was a boy or a girl.
A CHP statement said the driver who struck the child was a man, and alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in the crash. On Monday, a sheriff’s official said that the driver of the vehicle did not stop after hitting the toddler on the roadway. A vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision was located on state Route 76 near Pauma Valley Drive, about 10 miles away, the official said.
