Three children were found unresponsive at the day care. They were administered Narcan and taken to the hospital. Two regained consciousness and one died. A fourth child exhibited symptoms at home later in the day and was taken to the hospital where he was administered Narcan as well.
The medical examiner said that they expect to determine the child’s cause of death later in the day Saturday,In the news conference, Kenny said at there were suspicions about opioid exposure that the children’s symptoms.
Once the children were out of the day care, New York Fire Department crews tested the day care for any environmental hazards such as carbon monoxide which was negative.
