The advisory group has submitted to the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) their recommendations on more than half of the courtesy resignations of senior police officers, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said Monday.
“A little over half of the third-level officers have been evaluated and assessed,” Azurin said at a press conference.
“Recommendations have been submitted already to the Office of the President through the NAPOLCOM for rechecking and further assessment,” he added. Azurin refused to divulge the details of their recommendations, saying that these should be announced with the final approval of the Office of the President.submit their courtesy resignations as part of the government's efforts to rid the police force of officers involved in the illegal drug tradeHe said this was "the only way to make a fresh start" in the PNP, as he expressed concern over the involvement of some ranking police officers in the illegal drug trade.
A five-man advisory group, including Azurin, will review the resignations. The NAPOLCOM will again assess the police officers whose resignations are accepted by the group.— RSJ, GMA Integrated News
