Aztecs officials had to scramble to find new accommodations. It was a challenge, given such a large traveling party visiting an area with few big hotels. Saturday’s 12:30 p.m. kickoff Saturday at Oregon State already represented the earliest start time of the season. After all, Fountain was part of the 2020-21 Aztecs teams that faced two-hour bus rides to Carson. And that was just for “home” games while Snapdragon Stadium was under construction.

“Some people use that time to listen to music and get themselves locked in,” Christon said. “There’s the guys that do watch film on the bus, just to kind of get another look at what we’re going into. It’s all up to your personal preference of what you want to do to get yourself prepared for a game.
