News and notes as the 3-3 Aztecs prepare for Saturday’s game at Snapdragon Stadium

San Diego State center Brayden Bryant has started every game this season, despite a significant ankle injury. San Diego State center Brayden Bryant’s limp was almost imperceptible Monday morning as he walked down a hallway in the Fowler Athletics Center.Bryant has been fighting through a right ankle injury most of the season. It hasn’t prevented him from starting each game, but it has acted up enough to send him to the sidelines on a couple of occasions.

Bryant is a senior transfer from Oklahoma by way of the University of North Dakota. The Aztecs need him healthy to avoid what has been a substantial shuffling of the O-line. “It’s not so much the quality of the caliber of player that we have, just the quantity that we have up and available at this point in time,” Lewis said.

Lewis said much of practice Tuesday and Wednesday last week was “for development of the competitive depth of our roster.” It also was done with an eye on a short week next week, when the Aztecs play a Friday game at Boise State.
