San Diego State begins spring practice on Feb. 20, plans Spring Game March 23 at Snapdragon Stadium and will scour transfer portal for players come May
This used to be the time of year when college football coaches turned all of their attention to spring practice, focusing their energy on player preparation and development for the upcoming season.
Hoke will be on the lookout for players who could help the Aztecs when the transfer portal opens again May 1. He expects SDSU to have two or three scholarships available.“We’re going to lose some other guys, too,” Hoke said. “That’s going to happen. We all have to prepare for that. That’s why you have to be proactive from what you’re doing through the spring.Roster construction is a year-long consideration now.
Explaining the turnover, Hoke said, “We’re not paying them a whole lot, I’ll be honest with you. So they’ve gotten better jobs ... financially.”announced last week that he was entering the transfer portal.
