KUALA LUMPUR: The PKR central leadership has sacked two of its top leaders, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Zuraida Kamaruddin, for their “betrayal” against party principles and for causing instability to the former Pakatan Harapan-led government.
PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the decision was reached following the actions of Azmin and Zuraida, who are the party’s deputy president and vice-president respectively, and the role played in the open betrayal against the party.
A huge number of MPs from both sides of the political divide converged at the hotel on Sunday, which led to speculation about efforts to form a backdoor government.Saifuddin said the move had affected the economy, the ringgit and stock market. Also present during the meeting were PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.Anwar left the party headquarters around 2.10pm and headed to Istana Negara for his meeting with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
