Umno information chief Azalina Othman Said asks why the critics were silent when Ahmad Zahid Hamidi unveiled BN’s candidates for the state polls.
Umno information chief Azalina Othman Said said Umno did not need a change in president but a change in the way its election campaign was carried out.
Azalina said the BN leadership could have opted to contest fewer seats on Aug 12, but did not, adding that no one raised any issue when the watikah was given to BN’s 108 candidates. “Some even felt was not enough. But today, there are some who are cynical about the seats we lost. Where were these voices when the watikah was handed to candidates?
The Pengerang MP said it was easy to shift the blame amid losses, citing Zahid’s claim that he had been pressured to dissolve Umno after the 14th general election in 2018.Dismissing calls for Zahid to step down, Azalina said Umno did not need a change in president but a change in the way it worked and mobilised its election campaign.
