KUALA LUMPUR: Comm Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay has been appointed as the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police, effective Friday (June 23).
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has consented to the appointment of the 57-year-old senior officer from Kota Setar, Kedah.
The consent is in accordance with Clause 4 and 5 of Article 140 of the Federal Constitution following advice from the Prime Minister based on the recommendation of the Police Force Commission. "He has held several posts in the police force, including at the Special Branch and as the Johor police chief. We congratulate him on his appointment," he said in a statement on Wednesday .
Among Comm Ayob's other previous posts were Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department director.
