Former ministers who were axed from President Cyril Ramaphosa's cabinet last week have resigned as Members of Parliament. ECRNewsWatch
The former Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and People with Disabilities Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, former Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa and former Tourism Minister Lindiwe Sisulu submitted their resignation to National Assembly speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula on Wednesday."The speaker has thanked both for their service and wished them well in their future endeavours," he said.
Sisulu has been part of the executive since 1996 and served under Presidents Nelson Mandela, Thabo Mbeki, Jacob Zuma and President Cyril Rampahosa. Mthethwa has been in the executive since 2008 having served as minister of safety and security and minister of police before being appointed as minister of sports, arts and culture under the Ramaphosa administration.Nkoana-Mashabane served as the minister of rural development and land reform, and minister of international relations and cooperation before being appointed to the Presidency to lead the ministry of women, youth and persons with disabilities.
