The U.S. Coast Guard released a statement Sunday saying authorities recovered the body and confirmed it was Samuel Ickes Jr., of Fremont, Ohio. Ickes was the father of two young children. The Coast Guard says Ickes fell from a 27-foot boat at about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11. Ickes was unable to get back to the boat because of the wind and strong currents, the Coast Guard says.
The search for Ickes was suspended on Wednesday after about 24 hours. A C-130 aircraft from the Royal Canadian Air Force, an HC-144 aircraft from the Coast Guard in Cape Cod, Mass., along with helicopters and boats from the Coast Guard and other agencies were involved in the search.
