Drivers answered questions Thursday about impeding concerns ahead of qualifying; however, track limit infringements proved to be a bigger issue Friday as lap times continued to be deleted. Alex Albon sat 12th after Q2, but lap deletions for Oscar Piastri and Sergio Pérez boosted the Williams driver into Q3.
It was a double dropout for AlphaTauri as Yuki Tsunoda missed Q2 by 0.021s. Meanwhile, Nyck de Vries — who is facing scrutiny once again after Red Bull team advisor Helmut Marko’s recent comments about his performance — was 0.2 seconds off the bubble.
