Cryptocurrency traders in Australia’s have welcomed signs from Donald Trump that he would loosen industry regulation, hoping that such moves in the US would pave the way for friendlier policies at home.
“Sadly, we see the attacks on crypto,” Trump said. “It’s a part of a much larger pattern that’s being carried out by the same left-wing fascists to weaponise government against any threat to their power. They’ve done it to me.” “We shouldn’t think crypto is somehow outside traditional standards. Offering services that involve new and innovative technologies, or that are built around new and innovative technologies, doesn’t afford service providers a regulatory exemption,” he said.The crypto industry in Australia has long pushed for more comprehensive regulation to better allow start-ups to experiment with blockchain and web3 technologies.
