Nationals MP Andrew Willcox and Nationals senator Bridget McKenzie topped the list of travel expenses between October and December 2022.Nationals MP Andrew Willcox and Nationals senator Bridget McKenzie topped the list of travel expenses between October and December 2022.
The expense authority explains parliamentarians are paid an allowance for each night they stay in accommodation away from their home base within the country. It includes expenses for cancelled official travel arrangements.“Unlike the electorate of Sydney, Dawson is a lot larger in size and the best way to meet with my constituents in regional areas is to get in the car and drive and spend time in each area,” he said.
McKenzie spent more than 90% of the three-month period on the road. A spokesperson said the additional travel related to the Albanese government’s October budget, which affected funding commitments promised under the former government.
