Mr Haddad’s religious organisation Al Madina Dawah Centre and Mr Zoud’s nonprofit Awqaf Australia Benevolent Fund Limited were also named in the complaints. Co-CEO of the peak Jewish body, Peter Wertheim said ECAJ was taking the action not just to “defend the honour” of the Jewish community, but also “to protect the future of Australia as a peaceful and socially-cohesive society”.

Mr Wertheim also expressed his disappointment that ECAJ was forced to lodge a complaint, claiming law enforcement and governments had not enforced racial discrimination laws. “We will do this regardless of the human and financial cost. The issue is simply too important for Australia’s future.”
