The Australian government has defended its condemnation of Iran's missile strikes on Israel, saying it 'makes no apology' for its views despite being summoned by Tehran. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) stated that Australia condemns the 'reckless' Iranian actions and calls for de-escalation to avoid further casualties in Gaza and Lebanon.

It is the second time in just over a month Mr McConville has been summoned by the Iranian government.The meeting came just days after Iran's ambassador to Australia, Ahmad Sadeghi, was called into DFAT over comments praising Hezbollah's assassinated leader. Mr Dutton argued that Mr Sadeghi's statements were "completely and utterly at odds with what is in our country's best interests" and urged the government to expel him from Australia.
