Labor MP Josh Burn has criticised Australia's decision to back a UN motion in support of a Palestinian push for full membership to the global body that passed with overwhelming support.
Australia should have abstained from voting on a "historic" motion to grant Palestinians full membership to the United Nations, a federal Labor MP says. Victorian backbencher Josh Burns' comments come after the 193-member UN General Assembly overwhelmingly backed a non-binding resolution that recommends the UN Security Council "favourably" reconsider Palestinians gaining full membership, after the United States vetoed a similar resolution last month .
Wong acknowledged these concerns in her press conference on Saturday. "I understand that the community is feeling distressed and isolated," she said. "I want to say you are valued members of our community; you have a right to be safe, you have a right to feel safe and antisemitism has no place anywhere.
