The disability royal commission has made 222 recommendations to make the nation a more supportive and inclusive society.

The final report from the $600 million, four-and-a-half-year Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability was tabled in parliament this morning, containing a massive 222 recommendations variously aimed at federal, state and territory governments, as well as non-government agencies.

"Transformation requires phasing out and ending special/segregated education and ensuring inclusive education systems," the commissioners wrote. Also among the key recommendations is the creation of a law to protect the human rights of people with a disability, establishing disability employment targets and improving the supply of accessible and adaptive housing.

"Our inquiry has shown people with disability continue to experience high rates of violence and abuse, multiple forms of neglect, and sexual and financial exploitation," the report states.
