The Federal Government is weighing up alternatives to its plans of upgrading the current Collins-class submarines after revelations its cost could blow out to $10 billion.

The admission comes as doubt grows over the sustainability and viability of the government’s planned upgrades to the Collins submarines with the estimated cost potentially blowing out to $10 billion.
