So to recap the events of this morning: The government has banned all non-essential indoor gatherings of more than 100 people. This does not apply to public transport, courts and prisons, offices, factories and construction sites. The Chief Medical Officer, Brendan Murphy, said we should not have a 2 to 4 week lockdown because afterwards “the virus will just flare up again”. Deputy PM Michael McCormack also said we “can’t have a full lockdown”.
