Austinites in the Lantana Hills neighborhood are disgruntled after they say it’s taken the city of Austin too long to complete traffic signal construction at what they call a dangerous intersection.
According to the city of Austin’s database, the signal lights at the intersection were approved for readiness back in April 2023. Residents want to know, if the signal lights have been in place for over a year, why aren’t they operational yet? But in a new email with another resident on Tuesday, the city said the company contracted to complete the work at the intersection was experiencing “staffing shortages and has not been actively pursuing completion.”
“We were all worried that it wasn’t going to be done by the time school started. Little did we know, now we’re coming up on a week left in school and it’s still not done,” he said.
