Austin Police said a body found on a trail near Lady Bird Lake had no signs of ever being in the water. Three bodies have been found in the lake since February.

A dead body was found on a trail near Lady Bird Lake in Austin this week, police said. A 911 caller reported the person at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Austin Police Corporal Matthew Nonweiler said in a media briefing. The body was along a trail in the 2700 block of Canterbury Street , he said, which is on the north side of the lake east of downtown. Officers responded and found the person was “obviously deceased,” Nonweiler said.

He added that the body was not retrieved from the lake and there is “no indication that the body ever was in the water.” Three bodies have been found in the lake so far this year. On Aug. 6, police found a man in his 60s floating in the lake with no signs of trauma. Austin Police also found bodies in the lake in February and April.
